With the FIT and DIP modules working together, you get a complete portal application development suite without the traditional development effort.
The DOT consists of an engine that builds a database schema to support the web service schema, and then processes transactions on a schedule or interval; and an adapter that provides the translation to the particular service. By logging all data in a database schema, we essentially create a web service data warehouse to mitigate the four issues stated above. We then use the DIP module to serve the data to the portal.
After that, Alqimi does the hard work. Essentially, the SIP module allows you to originate or take data offline and augment it, then upload it to the mother-ship with just two mouse clicks.
The Alqimi SIM module, or Service Integration Manager, is a powerful database communication tool that solves the portal challenge of communicating directly to the database. Easily configured in a few minutes, the SIM allows you to retrieve, insert, or update any record in the database. The two-way communication and the speed of data accessibility enable your web applications to effectively communicate with its database table records in an efficient and secured method.
The authenticated SIM link may be used by Ajax to retrieve specific data on demand. Since the returned value can be configured to be XML output, the built-in JQuery XML parser will easily extract the data needed. If data needs to be sent, the SIM link can simply be called URL parameters as in POST or GET methods. The SIM can also be used to build your own REST API. Since configuring every SIM only takes a few minutes, in combination with database Stored Procedures each SIM may be considered as a REST API that returns an XML document. Hence, a collection of SIMs may be considered a REST API library for your application.
The Alqimi XIP module or XML Integration Processor, provides a simple means to integrate RSS, ATOM, and other XML-based feeds directly into the Portal environment. The XIP allows an administrator to simply configure a new XIP and paste in an XSLT style sheet. A listener is then placed on a page and is called by a function that requests the XIP Configuration; sends the feed URL, and the div on the page into which the feed combined with the style sheet shall be loaded .
The The Alqimi MIP module , or Maps Integration Platform, supports ESRI rest services, Google Maps, and the Google Earth plugin.The MIP provides a mechanism for mapping of data that is served from the DIP or KML as static or network KML files. It is so simple to use that it requires virtually no knowledge of GIS to create rich mapping applications within the portal environment.
